1) Chew Your Food & SLOW Down
This might seem simple, but most of us dont do it! Enzymes in our mouth help us start the digestive process. If we inhale our food, we bypass that step, which makes our stomach work harder to break down our food.
2) Drink Water BEFORE Not During Meals
When we drink liquid during a meal, we can dilute our stomach acid and fill up our stomachs too much, which can put pressure on the LES . The LES is the muscle that prevents food from going back up our esophagus. Drinking room temperature water 10-15 minutes before a meal and only sipping water or warm tea as needed during a meal has helped me. When we chew our food thoroughly, we dont need as much liquid to wash it down.
3) Eliminate Trigger Foods.
How To Avoid Gerd Symptoms
You can reduce or eliminate the discomfort of GERD symptoms by taking a few simple steps. These include:
- Avoiding fast food
- Not eating 3 to 4 hours before bed
- Staying at a healthy weight
- Eating smaller meals
- Staying away from spicy foods
- Wearing loose-fitting clothing
- Exercising regularly with an empty stomach
- Avoiding stress

If you have an ulcer, definitely skip using something acidic like apple cider vinegar for acid reflux, which may cause your belly even more aggravation. Reduce Factors That Promote Bacterial Overgrowth And Low Stomach Acid
As we saw in Part II and Part III, a high carbohydrate diet promotes bacterial overgrowth. Bacterial overgrowth in particular H. pylori can suppress stomach acid. This creates a vicious cycle where bacterial overgrowth and low stomach acid reinforce each other in a continuous decline of digestive function.
It follows, then, that a low-carb diet would reduce bacterial overgrowth. To my knowledge there have only been two small studies done to test this hypothesis. The results in both studies were overwhelmingly positive.

Conventional Treatment For Hpylori
You have to take more than 10 medicines for 15 days. These medicines are a mixture of Antibiotics, Acid reducers, and Histamine Blockers. But we are not friends of antibiotics because they kill good bacterias as well. There are natural treatments as well.
1. Black cumin seed to kill H.Pylori
It was found that giving patients with H. pylori bacteria, 2 grams of ground black seeds daily along with omeprazole was more effective than the conventional treatment. Take 2 grams of Black Seeds daily for 2 weeks.

- Baclofen: This medication works to strengthen the muscular valve present at the lower esophageal sphincter muscle. However, it may cause nausea and fatigue in some people.
- Surgical procedures: In rare cases, these are required to help with severe heartburn symptoms.

Bacteria Hpylori Lowers The Stomach Acid
Low stomach acid is not able to fight off bacterias like H.Pylori. In the presence of H.Pylori, stomach acid reduces further. H. pylori suppress stomach acid secretion and are responsible for stomach ulcers. It is believed that half of the world´s population is suffering from H.Pylori infection. This is especially true in developing countries.

Take An Acid Neutralizer
When heartburn hits and you need relief, try an antacid like Tums, Rolaids, or Maalox. These medications act quickly to neutralize the acid in the stomach, which can reduce your symptoms. Dont have any on hand? Dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda in eight ounces of water and drink to neutralize the acid in your stomach. Just use caution with this home remedy since its high in sodium and shouldnt be used by people on a sodium-restricted diet.
We also like H-2 blockers, also known as Histamine H2-receptor antagonists. These include such brand names a Pepcid, Pepcid AC, Tagamet, and Zantac. These medications dont work as quickly as acid neutralizers, but they are still very fast. H2 blockers should be taken about 30 minutes before you eat or when you typically experience symptoms.
The benefit of H2 blockers is that they work longer than antacids, but they dont have the same medical risks associated with proton pump inhibitors. As is true with all medications we highly recommend that you discuss use with your doctor before you begin any drug treatment, prescription or over-the-counter.
And remember that while these quick fixes may help relieve your GERD symptoms, they dont address the underlying cause of those symptoms. Your goal should be to stop reflux from happening in the first place, which is why we recommend several long-term solutions to cure heartburn.
